I started Sparx Analytics LLC to address the lack of online analytics education geared towards clinicians. There are many great learning platforms out there, but they typically don't use healthcare examples. This creates an extra step in translating the skills you learn to the obstacles that come with analyzing topics such as patient admissions, medication administrations, and procedures.
I create simulated datasets that look like the actual data you encounter in healthcare to help you apply the skills back to your practice setting. My Data Journey:
I am a residency-trained pharmacist with advanced board certification and over 5 years of experience in the healthcare data and analytics landscape. I first discovered my passion for data when working on an opioid supply chain project as a pharmacy resident. I subsequently completed multiple rotations with the Pharmacy Analytics and Outcomes team at UNC Health before joining them full time after the completion of my PGY1 in Pharmacy Practice and PGY2 in Ambulatory Care.
I have experience with various types of data while working in technical roles spanning health system, consulting, and health tech settings. I've taught Excel to pharmacists in a Masters of Health System Pharmacy Administration program since 2020 and have since incorporate lessons on SQL. I use Excel and SQL daily and love to teach foundational concepts to those just beginning as well as advanced techniques for those with prior experience.
