Student Elective Program

Learn to apply data analytics to real-world scenarios

Next program starts January 8, 2025

This program meets once weekly in the evenings beginning January 8th, 2024 and ending April 16th. There are a few weeks throughout the semester without class that are used to provide time to work on longitudinal projects.

Classes consist of live demonstration and guided exercises. Participants will complete practice problems and work through a medication use evaluation to solidify your skills between classes.

Students can enroll as individuals or through an affiliation with their school. Partnering schools offer 1-2 course credits for participation.

All experience levels are welcome to join for this program. We'll start with foundational topics and progress to advanced data analytics skills to use in your next research or quality improvement project.

Throughout this program, you will learn how to analyze data in Microsoft Excel, query a database with SQL, and complete longitudinal projects. These can consist of analyzing publicly available datasets, creating analytics education materials, and presenting a journal club.

Participants need their own access to Microsoft Excel but will be provided access to a SQL database.
